Reliance JioFiber may finally launch in March; expected to offer 100Mbps free broadband!

Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio might finally introduce the low-cost fiber broadband network called JioFiber, by the end of March. The service was rumoured to launch end of 2017 but that did not happen. Now, a report by telecomtalk suggests that the company may officially roll out JioFiber next month.

Reliance Jio is reportedly testing JioFiber in 10 cities. On Twitter, JioCare had previously confirmed that the service will be available in six cities, including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara at the time of launch.

From earlier reports, JioFiber plans are said to start from Rs 500 for 600 GB data. While higher packages are said to start from Rs 2,000 per month for 1000 GB data at 100Mbps speed. The FTTSH-based JioFiber services will also come with bundled JioMedia share device, smart set top box, routers and Power Line Communication (PLC) plugs. Alongside the high-speed internet service, JioFiber is also expected to give a major push to IoT (Internet of Things) in the country.
Recently, Reliance Jio joined hands with mobile wallet MobiKwik to sell the JioPhone on its platform. “We are proud to become the first mobile wallet to sell Jio phones in India. Users can book their phone in four easy steps and avail great benefits as well,” Bikram Bir Singh, Business Head at MobiKwik, said. With this move, MobiKwik became the first in the country to sell the phone on its platform.
